Umberto Eco wrote the short story for children The Bomb and the General in 1966: a story about the atomic bomb and the nuclear threat, the devastating consequences of war, and the importance of peace in community-making. This text was the starting point for the Magnetic Stories project and lays out some of its founding principles.
