Drawing from a mainly percussion arsenal, together with the irascible languor of both Hungtai’s sax and voice, and Maranha’s ubiquitous organ, this trio of remarkable people takes on rhythm and texture as a fundamental and anaemic element for an immense and constantly increasing sound, capable of channelling the ghosts of Sun Ra’s Arkestra or the Celestial Communion Orchestra, by means of the physical teachings of the No Wave, in an almost ritualistic communion of circular rhythms, mantras and solemn war cries.
