Incomparable and much loved chanteuse, ‘phadista’, performer, artist, woman. Studied drawing, lived in Barcelona and Brussels, where she played in bars and jazz clubs.
Performed in Germany, France, Italy and Holland; and for King Mohammed V in Morocco, after the Royal Orchestra and with Rabih Abhou-Khalil present. Released ‘Phados’ in 1998 on the Belgian label Carbon 7, to great widespread reviews, but only returned to recording 2 years ago with the extremely celebrated ‘Troubadour’ record on Mbari Records.
The more her absence was felt through the years, with rare live concerts, the more the ‘saudade’ was expressed from fans across the world, with high praises coming from the likes of Caetano Veloso among anonymous thousands of others.
She is truly unique in her approach to music, using only voice and guitar, her method of assemblage composition being her trademark: in the same song she may start with a fado and then proceed to a bossa, from a tango she may decide to evolve to another geographic tide, always beautifully intense and longing, in the most purest of forms.
