UNTITLED, STILL LIFE is a performance that circles back to the recurring question in the work of Borralho & Galante: the place of the audience.
The set is comprised of a sofa, 4 light projectors and a digital camera on a tripod, as in a photography studio. The audience doesn’t know who the performers are and who is the audience. There will be 5 performers (infiltrated) among the audience.
In beginning of the performance, a member of the audience is asked to take a group photo with the performers. From this, the performance moves on with a series of photographs of both performers and audience, thus creating a “family album”.
Throughout the performance piece, both audience and performers can activate the camera. Stories and situations are supported and transformed through the actions of both sound and light, creating an ongoing build-up of inner performance that will intensify until the show ends.
